Hello and welcome to Back Alley Media.

Geraldine Ferraro

Re: Suzanne’s post from two weeks ago on Geraldine Ferraro’s voice-from-the-sky editorial on democracy, there’s this little humdinger from the former vice presidential nominee (via Kos):

“If Obama was a white man, he would not be in this position. And if he was a woman (of any color) he would not be in this position. He happens to be very lucky to be who he is. And the country is caught up in the concept.”

No need for any commentary, I assume, just that I’m mildly surprised that she went with this the day before the Mississippi primary.  As Kos reminds us, “Ferraro isn’t some unknown lower-level or obscure advisor, but one of her top fundraisers [and a ] member of Clinton’s finance committee.” And yes, Suzanne, I’m just trying to get a rise out of you at this point!

Ha! any more “rise” from me and I’m exiting the stratosphere.

In the same interview, she cackled at the prospect of anything resembling “post-partisanship.” What a class act.

This race really is exposing some fault lines in the party. The people who think we might actually redraw some party lines and approach old topics differently, and others who want to crap on anyone who even suggests it.

I’m sure that Clinton will ask Ferraro to step down from any role she is playing in the campaign. I’m sure she will both reject and denounce her.
